Intermission
I have not kept up with this space. I have had a wonderful distraction from a certain 15-pound noisemaker whom I have to care of on the nightshift. You'd think you'd need a job before you can have a nightshift, but c'est la vie. Within the next week or two, I hope to be back blogging.
Two topics come to mind. First, we may as a country have reached peak Trump. In focus: I incidentally wrote something about him that's been repeated everywhere! I don't mean I had any special insight, but everyone I'm reading seems to be trying to say anything to discredit this billionaire turned far-right insurgent candidate for president. Say anything possible, you will inevitably converge: the monkeys and the Shakespeare thing. But, I think we need to come to terms with the fact that nothing we are saying is taking away anything from the guy. So what do we say now?
Second: I'm enjoying that show The Leftovers. It's a boutique-drama about the world adjusting to a catastrophe it can almost forget about but that inexorably changes everyone's mental state. It's interesting as far as religion in the media goes, and it's-not incidentally-about race in the US as well. Is a piece on religion and popular culture really worth the effort of reading, to say nothing of writing? Maybe we'll see.
